Deep breath and PPG signal flattening
Taking a deep breath and then holding it increases intrathoracic pressure (pressure inside the chest cavity), which compresses veins returning blood to the heart causing a temporary decrease in venous return and cardiac output, and in turn, peripheral circulation. The reverse occurs after releasing the breath after a deep inhalation.
