Description
This assembly can detect pedal or flywheel rotations on a cycle ergometer; it can also be used for other purposes. The assembly consists of a Hall effect switch and a neodymium disc magnet, and includes double-sided tape and twist-ties for attachment. The switch detects the presence of the magnet and tolerates an air gap up to 0.75 inches.
The magnet can is a more flexible solution than a photodetector:
- Magent can be placed on flywheel or crankarm—works with cycle ergometers that have an inaccessible flywheel
- Some flywheels are white with painted patterns, making a photodetector hard to use
Use with BSL PRO lesson H05 | Wingate Anaerobic Test.
